STEP UP Certification Issues Its First SURE-EU Certificates in Portugal and Slovakia
STEP UP Certification has issued its first three SURE-EU certificates for companies operating in Portugal and Slovakia.

This is an important milestone for our team and for the development of our sustainability certification services across Europe. The certificates confirm compliance with the applicable sustainability requirements of the SURE-EU certification scheme, supporting the use of sustainable biomass and biofuels under the Renewable Energy Directive.
The certified supply chains involve forestry residues and wood-industry residues, including wood chips, wood powder and wood pellets. Under the SURE-EU system, these materials fall within the FOREST WaR and WaR categories - forest waste and residues, and waste and residues from forest-based industry.
SURE-EU certification provides independent confirmation that economic operators meet the relevant sustainability and greenhouse-gas-emission requirements in their biomass supply chains. It supports transparency, traceability and confidence for suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.
The first certificates issued by STEP UP Certification cover companies operating in two European markets with active biomass sectors: Portugal and Slovakia. They demonstrate our ability to provide SURE-EU certification services internationally and to support organisations with different supply-chain structures, biomass materials and operational scopes.
For STEP UP Certification, this is the beginning of a longer-term commitment to supporting companies that need a practical, professional and independent route to SURE-EU certification.
We thank our clients for their trust and look forward to working with further organisations across Europe.
