SURE-EU SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES Verification Scheme
SURE-EU certification ensures that companies meet the requirements for sustainable and traceable supply chains in the European market. It demonstrates compliance with the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED) for solid and gaseous biofuels.
PEFC Forest Management Certification
Forest management certification is a process that verifies a forest is being managed sustainably, ensuring ecological health, social benefits, and economic viability. It involves meeting established standards set by organizations promoting responsible practices such as conservation, biodiversity protection, and responsible logging. This certification helps consumers and businesses support environmentally and socially responsible forestry.
PEFC Chain of Custody Certification
PEFC chain of custody certification provides independent, third-party assurance that the forest-based materials in your products originate from sustainably managed forests and controlled sources. It helps you demonstrate a transparent and responsible supply chain, respond to increasing market and regulatory expectations, and use the trusted PEFC label to communicate your sustainability commitment.
PEFC Contractor Certification
Contractor Certification aims to promote sustainable forest management and improve the quality, efficiency, and social responsibility of forestry service providers. It helps certified contractors gain competitive advantages. The standard applies to forestry contractors involved in activities such as forest tending, harvesting, and transportation of timber and wood chips.
EUDR Compliance
The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is legislation aimed at reducing global deforestation by ensuring that products sold within the EU market are not linked to illegal or unsustainable deforestation practices. It requires companies to trace and verify their supply chains, demonstrating commitments to responsible sourcing and environmental sustainability.

NOTE: Particular service is not available for STEP UP Certification certified companies and does not guarantee automatically compliance with EUDR requirements. If EUDR services are delivered, than certification by STEP UP Certification is prohibited for minimum 2 years.
RED Compliance
The Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) is the European Union framework that establishes sustainability and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission saving requirements for biomass, biofuels and renewable energy production.
STEP UP Certification provides independent verification of biomass sustainability and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission saving requirements in accordance with RED III and applicable national legislation, including operator schemes established under national regulatory requirements.
The assessment includes:

biomass supply chain traceability;

mass balance systems;
-
sustainability criteria compliance;

GHG emission saving requirements;
-
supplier documentation and supporting evidence.
The service is intended for operators using forest and agricultural biomass for heat, electricity, or cogeneration production and seeking independent verification of compliance with RED III sustainability requirements.
Upon successful completion of the assessment, a verification report and verification statement are issued.
